The Obligatory 'About' Page
Hello! I'm Tynri, the webmaster of this site! Creating an 'about' page for a website that doesn't really exist yet is quite hard... but for the time being hopefully this will provide a neat summary of my interests and aims for this website, etc. My main aim is for this site to be my personal space, where I can collect and partake in my (diverse) interests. Keep your eyes peeled I guess. Or don't - this website is mostly for me, but if other people also enjoy it then great!
About Me
Hello, once again! My username is Tyrni, as is the name of the site I guess. Or maybe it should be 'Tyrni's Site'? Anyway, whatever. I'm a social sciences/history student, albeit from an 'area studies' perspective focussed on the Post-Soviet space (or however you want to describe this unbelievably diverse, interesting and massive part of the world).
I speak English and Russian, hence this blog has parallel versions in both languages. My aim is for the content to be roughly the same on both 'sides' of this website, but who knows how that will go. Translation can be fun and useful sometimes, but occassionally a bit boring. Plus, I'm keen to experiment with various different layouts and styles here!
Interests
I have a lot of interests that are quite diverse and escoteric. Hopefully the design of this website will eventually reflect that... In the meantime, some of them are listed below.
- Languages and lingusitics. I speak English and Russian and I am currently learning Finnish. I'd love to study more languages in the future!
- History. My 'day job' is being a university student who studies this
- Sociology (and other social sciences - I won't list them all). See above - also forms part of my 'day job'
- Photography - mostly nature and buildings, sometimes people/street photography
- Drinking beer and other alcoholic beverages
- The history, languages and cultures of the North Caucasus
- Folklore etc. from across the world, but I read zines about this sort of thing which focus on the British Isles
- Sea buckthorns
About this Website
You can probably infer some relevant information about this website from the sections above, but there's more specific things to be said I suppose.
As noted above, I'm a person with quite diverse and decently escoteric interests, which I aim to collect on this website. I also thought it would be useful to create a website to help me keep track of my interests and almost to hold myself accountable in some way, or at least provide an easily accessable space to collect them all or something.
I mean, why does anyone bother making a website anyway? My motivations are probably quite similar to most other people on this site I suppose!
Here are some quick facts about this site...
- Created: 03/04/2024
- Webmaster: Tyrni
- Current size: 0.1MB
- Current version: First
Aims for this Website
As above, I'm aiming to create a space for my interests etc. to be organised. So this website is supposed to be my space, where I can dump stuff I'm interested in to admire, but also to try and push myself to get better at those things by collecting them here.
I guess this site is a bit like a journal, or a book all about things that interest me, made by and for me.
There's also so many cool website out there on Neocities that I find super interesting and inspirational - I'm keen to get better at HTML and CSS and producing art for my site!
Current Projects/Pages Under Construction, etc.
Basically the entire site is a building site at this point. But I aim to get the following up and run fairly quickly...
- Functional homepage (English) with nice CSS
- Site Map
- The Russian version of this site
- Blog
- Credits page
Future Page Ideas
In the (hopefully) not too distant future, the following pages will also exist...
- Recipes
- Sea Buckthorn pages
- Book reviews and stuff
- Language and linguistics stuff
- Music stuff
- Some longer essays about stuff that annoys me, pisses me off, etc.
- Photo gallery, photography stuff
- Art space or something (a gallery perhaps?)
